Juror Announced
Nancy Train Smith
 Biography

Nancy Train Smith began her career as a studio artist by attending Wellesley College where she earned a B.A. in art history in 1968 and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.   Upon graduation from the SMFA in 1978 she was honored with a Ruth A. Sturtivant Travelling Fellowship for her work in sculpture and video.  For the next twelve years she worked in clay, beginning at the Clay Dragon ceramics cooperative in Cambridge, MA, and ultimately exhibiting at various national and international venues. In 1991 she moved to Dartmouth, MA.   Once there, immersion in the beautiful and fragile natural landscape provoked a dramatic shift away from clay and back to her first love of painting.  Recently, she has been reintegrating ceramic work into her studio practice and using her years of close observation of nature she has been developing a new body of work in clay directed toward site-specific installation.
